In just a few days, the FDA is deciding whether or not to approve genetically engineered salmon. If it goes through, this would be the first GE animal approved for human consumption. We’re doing everything we can to stop it and need your help. Today we are holding a rally and press conference in front of the White House urging FDA and the Obama Administration to reject the approval of GE salmon. Can you call the White House today to support our efforts? There are a number of problems with the potential approval of GE salmon. First, the FDA doesn’t do its own testing, but relies on information provided by the company that wants approval. And since GE salmon are being considered as a new “animal drug,” the process isn’t focused on the potential impacts on consumers. Additionally, GE salmon pose unacceptable risks to human health, the environment and native fish populations--along with the men and women who depend upon native salmon fisheries for their livliehoods. So, we’re calling on the Obama Administration to step in and direct the FDA not to approve GE salmon. Read more on National Call-In Day To Stop GE Salmon
